Steve Powell
Steve Powell, 58, of Mound City, died at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on Nov. 12, 1962, in Hayti, Mo, the son of Willie Wayne Powell and Betty Lou Mercer Powell.
He married his wife, Nancy Powell, on May 21, 1997.
He was a member and a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Mound City.
He worked for over 20 years as a welder for CBG Waterfront.
He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed restoring vintage trucks.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Mound City, a son; Steven W. Powell Jr.; daughters Jesslyn M. Powell and Riley W. Powell; his grandchildren, Trinity Powell, Morgan Bell, Marlee Powell and Ember Powell; his mother, Betty Powell; a brother-in-law, William Little; a sister-in-law, Tonya (Victor) Barron; his father-in-law, Billy Little; a nephew Zaiden Barron; his nieces, Alexia “Sissy” Barron and LaTayvia Little; aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation was Saturday, Aug. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo. Funeral services followed at the funeral home, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
