Valetta Joy Stoner

Valetta Joy Stoner, 89, of Anna, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at Jonesboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1931, the daughter of Ralph and Opal Miller Gurley. 

She married Billy G. Stoner Sr. on July 13, 1955. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2005.

She is survived by her sons, Billy G. Stoner Jr. and Michael D. Stoner; her grandchildren, Andrea Hubbs, Katie (Ross) Kopher, David Stoner, Angel (Jeff Sherrill) Stoner and Austin Stoner; great-grandchildren Jacob and Nathan Hubbs and Cameron and Lucas Kopher. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Stoner Sr., and her parents.

She had been a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna since its beginning. She served on the church council, as director of the women’s missionary unit, nominating committee, preschool director and flower committee chairperson. 

She and Billy operated Stoner’s Grocery in the 1950s and 1960s. She later operated Stoner’s Daycare for over 30 years. 

Graveside funeral services for Valetta Stoner were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Ebenezer Hall Cemetery in Lick Creek, with Pastor Darryl Williams officiating. 

Memorials can be made to Ebenezer Hall Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna was in charge of arrangements.
