Virginia I. Glasco

Virginia I. Glasco

Mrs. Virginia Imogene (Johnson) Glasco of Anna, is now rejoicing with our Lord in her long-awaited heavenly home arriving on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 1:44 a.m. after departing from St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mis. Virginia was born on March 1, 1929 to Logan and Etta (Duty) Johnson in West Frankfort, the eldest of their 6 children. On July 1, 1951 Virginia was united in marriage with Charles (Charlie) Raymond Glasco for 38 years.

As a life-long homemaker, she often boasted, “I never worked outside the home but I raised two kids!”  Those two “kids” she raised are Judith (Judie) Ann (Glasco) Barnhart (Larry) Anna and Charles (Chuck) Eugene Glasco (Kathie) Rockford, IL. Virginia was blessed with four grandchildren; Micheal Logan (Wendy) Barnhart of Paris, Tenn., Amy Michelle (Barnhart) Miller (David) Dubuque, Iowa, Jessica Jane Glasco and James (Jimmy) Benjamin Glasco both of Rockford. Blessings continued with great-grandchildren; Micheal and Wendy honored her with Kara Grace, Noah Micheal, and Logan Marie Barnhart with Amy and David sharing Lalah Belle Miller. Siblings include Logan (Doris) Johnson, Peoria, Dora Johnson of Anna, David (Pat) Johnson of Jackson, Mis., and Dorris (Joyce) Johnson of Anna. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews are located across our country. Preceding Virginia in death are her beloved husband, Charles Raymond, parents Logan and Etta Johnson, and a sibling Francis (deceased shortly after birth).

Each family member was very important and was lifted in pray continuously by Virginia. As a member of the Anna First Church of the Nazarene for over seventy years, she attended faithfully each service, kept away only by illness, and was an active, giving, praying, and well known member of this loving body of Christ. On Sunday, August 28th Virginia was proudly escorted to ‘her church’ by both her children, Judie and Chuck where she joyously gave her monthly tithe commenting to them, “NOW I’m paid up!”

Services to celebrate life for Mrs. Virginia Imogene Glasco will be at 1p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, in the Anna First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Larry Barnhart and Rev. Michael Barnhart officiating. Interment of her earthly-body will be in the Anna City Cemetery, right next to Charlie.
