Virginia Lee Otten
Mrs. Virginia Lee Otten, 93, of Jonesboro, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on June 29, 1929, in St. Louis, the daughter of Arch and Marjorie Andrews Williams.
She married Paul G. Otten on June 10, 1947, in Jonesboro.
She is survived by one son, Alan (Sheila) Otten of Jonesboro; two daughters, Kathy (Jim) Livesay of Jonesboro and Paulette (Ron) Schneider of Woodlawn; 10 grandchildren, Tina Otten, Paula Dorsey, Angie (Roger) Levan, Chad (Tracey) Otten, Casey (Beth) Otten, Sarah (Mike) Alsip, Jacob (Sara) Livesay, Christie Ralls, Craig (Charla) Ralls and Jason (Ashlee) Lilly; seven great-grandchildren, Shelby, Roger and Jase Levan, Luke and Laura Dorsey, Megan Rees and Joshua (Kelsie) Ralls; eight great-great-grandchildren, Kailynn and Madilynn Rees, Anika and Owen Ralls and Harper Trowbridge, Selene, Evelyn and Cole Otten; two sisters-in-law, Betty Otten and Lola Edmonds; a brother-in-law, Pat Rogers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Otten; her sisters, Margaret and Gladys; and her brothers, Ralph and Gene.
She was a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jonesboro.
Virginia, known by most as Jenny, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She taught the lesson of love, generosity of the heart, integrity and the love of God and goodness. Her passions in life were many, especially her family and her beloved cat Charlie.
She will be missed for so many things, her smile, her big loving and caring heart and those awesome apple pies and chicken and dumplings.
Her family thanked the staff of the Voyage Assisted Living in Anna, Union County Hospital in Anna and St. Francis Medical Center.
Funeral services for Virginia Lee Otten were at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment followed in Jonesboro Cemetery.
