Wanda June Bowen

Wanda June Bowen, 96, of Anna, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at Manor Court of Carbondale. 

She was born on April 24, 1925, in Union County, the daughter of Lee and May Brown Dover. 

She married Robert Stanley East Jr. on Dec. 28,1941, in Jackson, Mo. He was killed on March 25, 1945, while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. 

On April 26, 1946, she married William Bowen in Chicago. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1994.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Lee East, Judy Kay Bowen (Jim) Jerolds and William (Mary Ann) Bowen Jr.; her grandchildren, Tim (Angie) Bowen, Amy (Kyle) Wheeler, Bradley (Byndi), Jacob, David and Terra Jerolds; great-grandchildren Ethan, Emma and Olivia Bowen, Conner and Colton Jerolds, Jaylen Althoff, Emery and Nora Wheeler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents and her siblings, Harry L., Carl H., Glen A. and Roy Dover, Mary E. Britt, Mabel Johnson and Ethel Hancock.

She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Jonesboro, as well as the Senior Circle. She loved to garden, cook and enjoyed lunches at the Sunshine Inn.

Funeral services for Wanda Bowen were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Mark Goins officiating. Interment followed in the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola. 

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle. 

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
