Wayne Crowell
Wayne Crowell, 71, of Carbondale, and formerly of Anna, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 17, 1946, in Anna, the son of George and Mary Dirden Crowell.
He married Carolyn Mixen on Oct. 16, 1966, in Union County.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Crowell of Carbondale; a son, Bryan (Amanda) Crowell of Carbondale; a daughter, Mary Jane Crowell of Carbondale; four grandchildren, John Michael, Nathaniel, Kassady and Bryanna; three sisters, Carolyn (Ed) Cates of Anna, Alice (Randy) Tucker of Jonesboro and Becky Crowell of Murphysboro; one brother, Buzz (Debbie) Crowell of Anna; many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a grandson, Bryon Anderson.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He worked for the City of Anna for 36 years. After retiring, he worked part time for Anna School District 37 as a custodian and served on the Anna City Council.
Funeral services for Mr. Crowell were at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Phillip Mixen officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Illinois Army National Guard military honors team. Interment will be at a later date at the Mound City National Cemetery.
