Wesley Karraker

Wesley Karraker, 72, of Cobden, died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at his home with his family.

Mr. Karraker was born on May 5, 1950, in Carbondale. He was the third child of Moneada and James Karraker. He is now home with his mom, dad and siblings.

Mr. Karraker married Sandra (Sandy) Martin on Feb. 15, 1974, at her parents’ home in Anna. They moved from Anna to Cobden in 1976, where they raised their three children and enjoyed 48 years of marriage together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Moneada Parker Karraker; brothers William Clyde Karraker and James Larry Karraker; and one sister, Sandra Kay (Karraker) Cassity. 

He leaves behind a wonderful wife, Sandy of Cobden; two sons, Robert and Jimmie Karraker of Anna; one daughter, Kathy Karraker of Cobden; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and had various hobbies, including a coin collection and model trains. 

He will also be missed by his three pets, Sasha, Buddy and Pockets. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Upon graduation from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, he attended Shawnee Community College. He went to work at the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in 1972 and took an early retirement in 2005. 

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at at the Anna Cemetery, with the Rev. John R. Annable officiating.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
