Wilmena Kohler Allen

Wilmena L. Allen, 97, died on July 20, 2021, in Round Rock, Texas. 

She was born April 8, 1924, in Dongola, the daughter of Roy and Hazel Kohler and at 19 years old left their farm in Mill Creek to work at a munitions plant and then joined the U.S. Marines.

She moved to Long Beach, Calif., late in 1944 and remained there until April 2019, when she relocated to Round Rock, Texas. 

She was married to Robert Allen (1930-2015). She was preceded in death by her husband and by a brother, Gilbert Kohler.

Mrs. Allen was a member of Elks Lodge No. 888. She served as a volunteer for many years at the Long Beach, Calif., VA Hospital. 

She enjoyed travel, painting, sewing, beach combing, card games and nearly any social activity. Most of all, she loved entertaining friends and neighbors.

Survivors include one son, Dana Tucker; three stepchildren, Chris Allen, Jeff Allen and Wendy Farrier; a brother Bon Kohler; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Kohler; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Luyben Dilday Mortuary, 5161 Arbor Rd., Long Beach, Calif. 90808.
