Wilson L. Dover

Wilson L. Dover, 70, of rural Anna, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1947, in Anna, the son of Carl and Edna Lucille Webb Dover.

He married Sharon Gibbons on June 30, 1992, in Paducah.

He was a long time member of the Church of God. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, retiring as a master sergeant. He later went on to work as a correctional officer for the State of Illinois.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Moose Lodge, Anna Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He dearly loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Dover of Anna; his mother, Edna Dover of Anna; a son, Carl (Judy) Dover of Hebron, Ky.; a stepson, Bryan Harvell of Anna; a stepdaughter, Shannon Palmier of Anna; grandchildren Brett (Gina) Dover, Brandon (Alex) Dover and Brianne Dover; a step-grandson, Caleb Harvell; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Ava, Preston, Paxton and Phoenix; and one sister, Carla Sims of Anna.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Dover.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Carl Dover officiating. Interment was in Casper Cemetery in Anna.

Graveside military rites were conducted by the Scott Air Force Base honor guard military funeral honor team. Masonic rites were conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
