Aren’t they cute? Sure they are. Spotted these young foxes while wandering around last Friday evening. Don’t really want to say where we saw them.

Life goes on...Bob helps some more...etc.

Please read this...

Life goes on...even in the drive-thru lane...but you might have to wait for a little while...

...just like you are going to have to wait for this to get to wherever this might be going...that’s because like so many other things these days, we’re not quite sure where things might be going...

...let’s start with an update about working at home...specifically, how Bob, our cat, likes to help...

...since Bob is a cat, he likes mouses...even if the mouse happens to be connected to a laptop computer...after a moment or two of attempted gentle persuasion, I picked Bob up and helped him to find something else to do...

...last Saturday afternoon, a couple of enterprising folks passed through our little corner of the world and shared business cards about their lawn care business...

...for a very brief moment, I almost took the message personally...because our yard looks, well, a little rough right now...especially since the folks around us have actually mowed their grass...

...however, in keeping with the times, I have decided to practice social distancing from the grass in my yard...sure, it’s a sacrifice, but somehow we’ll get through, no matter how long it might take...even if it means a declaration by some bureaucrat somewhere that our yard is officially a nature preserve...

...meanwhile, as a certain late-night television personality is wont to say...way back in the first sentence, mention was made of having a bit of a wait in a drive-thru lane...

...I had a prescription to pick up, and nowadays such things apparently are safer to do by utilizing a drive-thru lane, if one happens to be available...

...well, one was available...and very busy...as in I was in vehicle number six in line, which gave me a little bit of time to wait, which really was not all that bad...the sun was shining...a cardinal was singing loudly in a nearby tree...

...also singing were David Bowie and Queen...a song called “Pressure,” which seemed oddly appropriate, given some of the things folks are experiencing these days...

...between the sunshine and the tunes from the the birds and the car radio, the little bit of a wait in the drive-thru wasn’t all that bad...

...meanwhile...

in keeping with our plan to give you at least a little bit of something to laugh about, here’s one about a frog...

A Frog, A Bank and a Loan

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that the teller’s name is Patricia Whack. So he says, “Ms. Whack, I’d like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long vacation.”

Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how much he wants to borrow.

The frog says $30,000.

The teller asks his name and the frog says that his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it’s OK, he knows the bank manager.

Patti explains that $30,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need to secure some collateral against the loan. She asks if he has anything he can use as collateral.

The frog says, “Sure. I have this,” and produces a tiny pink porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.

Very confused, Patti explains that she’ll have to consult with the manager and disappears into a back office.

She finds the manager and says “There’s a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000. He wants to use this as collateral.” She holds up the tiny pink elephant. “I mean, what the heck is this?”

The bank manager looks back at her and says: “It’s a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man’s a Rolling Stone.”

(The Other Half shared this one with me last week. I think there are about a gazillion versions available online.)

Stay safe. Oh, by the way, if you are a fan of a certain Major League Baseball team which happens to call St. Louis home, or if you are just a baseball fan, be sure to check out the Cardinals’ 2020 Stay Home Opener video...it’s really good...
