How does he (she?) do that? A goose seemed quite content to stand around on one leg, even though the pose seemed to defy the laws of science, or physics, or something...there's probably a logical explanation...the goose, by the way, hissed at me...and hissed again...and again...

Little bit of this...little bit of that...

Please read this. . .

This week, once again, we're going to have a little bit of this, and a little bit of that...

...that's mainly 'cause sometimes, when your scribe sits down at the keyboard to create a masterpiece, there's just not much going on between the brain and the fingers...it's kind of like creativity decided to take a nap...

...so, we'll just kind of wander around, and we'll write about whatever happens to strike my fancy...

...like, how could I arrive in Anna Monday morning, only to see lines of vehicles at every railroad crossing in town...well, at least at the crossings I attempted to cross...the gates were down, and not a train was to be seen...go figure...

...I looked at the grass, or whatever is growing in our front yard, last weekend, and it appears to be easing ever so slowly to the point when I will actually have to see if our lawn mower is going to work for another season...

...if I am lucky, the lawn mower will not function, and we will finally have to turn our yard into a wildlife sanctuary...

...honestly, it's kind of surprising that anything is growing...

...'cause the weather continues to be, well, weird, or, maybe, March just continues to be March, doing whatever March wants to do...

...that meant that last Saturday afternoon, I could sit out on the porch, in the warm sunshine, and read a book, or, at least pretend to read a book while actually taking a nap...

...and, 24 hours later, it was too cold to consider sitting out on the porch...

...thank goodness that spring was supposed to arrive on Tuesday, when the high temperature was supposed to be a balmy 44 degrees...and there was some sort of mention of snow in the forecast...

...speaking of Tuesday...

...Tuesday was Election Day, which got me to wondering if it is even remotely possible for somebody to run for office nowadays unless one has millions and millions of dollars to spend. Seems kind of sad...

...to help keep my mind off of election silliness, I watched a lot of men's college basketball games last weekend...

...there were plenty of good games, and lots and lots of upsets...good stuff...just not for folks who had filled out brackets for the tournament...

...while watching the tournament unfold, it occurred to me that there were several SIU Saluki connection stories unfolding...

...if I happened to be paying attention correctly, it seems that former Saluki coaches who are now at Purdue and Kansas State have their teams in postseason play, and were doing quite well...

...speaking of sports, the start of the Major League Baseball season is drawing ever closer, which, I hope, is a sure sign that frequent sunny, and warm, afternoon naps on the front porch also are drawing ever closer...

...hope springs eternal...

...which brings me to my last little rant for the week...

...Why?...

...Why?...

...Why? Do people keeping talking on their cell phones while they are attempting to drive their vehicles? I do not understand such behavior? I still think that at some point, I am going to see somebody driving a car down old U.S. Route 51, and the driver is going to be talking on the phone, reading a newspaper, opening the mail, pouring a cup of coffee, eating a donut, scrambling some eggs, changing the station on the radio...

...oh, never mind...I can only hope these folks will come to their senses...that's all for now...

...hope you are having a fun week...
