PAST Market Place planned Saturday, Feb. 27, at A-JCHS
The PAST organization of Union County seeks to Promote Appreciation of Structural Treasures and the stories about the people who lived and worked in those places.
For several years, the organization has sponsored a winter sales event intended to be a fund raiser to support the educational and historical projects of PAST.
This year’s PAST Market Place is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School.
Hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the lower gymnasium at A-JCHS.
Early sales events included clothing or accessories with style shows and live auctions that were entertaining as well as productive.
There were tag sales that featured collectible linens or arts and crafts.
Food has ranged from a box lunch available to shoppers to a “food court” of sorts with sandwiches, soups and baked items.
But the most popular sales event has been the flea market or “market place,” where vendors and shoppers can focus on items of their choice.
A wide range of items are to be offered for sale this year. Expect food, “fleas,” arts and crafts, collectibles, quilts, home decoration items and more.
PAST’s current projects include maintaining and featuring St. Anne’s Historical Church in Anna and encouraging historical research projects in the schools.
Also on the agenda for PAST is the intention to preserve the house in Anna where Abraham Lincoln stayed in 1858 as a living history site for Southern Illinois.
