PAST plans to host open house

The PAST organization of Union County is planning to host an open house in February at its new home.

The open house is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the PAST House, which is located at 102 S. Main St. in Jonesboro.

The house is just south of the Jonesboro Square on Illinois Route 127.

Exhibits and narratives which are planned at the open house will celebrate the life of Abraham Lincoln, his campaign visit to Union County and history of the era.

On hand to greet guests will be Dr. Lynn Steveson, who has written Lincoln plays and monologues based on Lincoln family history.

Quilt enthusiast Susan Steck will preside in the “quilt room” and share her special Civil War replica quilt.

Emily Boyd Meyer is expected to host in the “Sansom Room” and share her family memories.

Deb Rossberg is a French and Indian War reenactor, but will interpret life during the Civil War for the open house.

Other Friends of PAST will check out the costume closet and promise to add Lincoln era character to the rooms of PAST House.

There is no admission charge and the event is open to the public. For more information, call 833-3228.

PAST is planning to commemorate the Civil War Weekend in cooperation with the Anna Arts Center during an event which is planned in February.

A Civil War Weekend is scheduled Feb. 8-10 at the art center.
