Police, fire pension board appointments made in Anna

Police and fire pension board appointments were among items considered by the Anna City Council at its regular meeting this week.

The meeting was Tuesday night at Anna City Hall.

Mayor Steve Hartline announced the appointments of Toni Flamm to both the police and fire pension boards, and Mike Stoner to the fire pension board.

Hartline said the city is in the process of helping the two boards become more organized and ensuring that both comply with state requirements.

He noted that if additional appointments become necessary he would prefer to leave them to a new mayor to be elected in April. Hartline is not a candidate for reelection.

The council approved a donation of $500 to the Anna-Jonesboro Community High School Safe Celebration event.

City attorney Wesley Wilkins reported that he and Union County State’s Attorney Tyler Edmonds have been in contact regarding an ordinance regulating pit bull dogs.

Council members were asked to consider possible special projects to be included in the city’s budget.
