Robert D. DeHoet

Robert D. DeHoet, 60, of Murphysboro, died at 10:57 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Yvonne Stone DeHoet. He married Charlene Evans on May 28, 1983 in Iowa City, Iowa.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene DeHoet of Murphysboro;  two children, Ariana and Claire DeHoet; two grandchildren; one sister, Lisa Siegrist; two brothers, Jeff and John DeHoet; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Carbondale for many years. He received his MFA in Sculpture from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Robert was the director of Education at Southern Illinois University Museum in Carbondale. He was a member of the American Association of Museums and the Museum Education Association.

Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 in the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church located at 402 West Mill Street in Carbondale with the very Rev. Mother Kathryn Jeffrey officiating. Friends were asked to go directly to the church. Interment was in the Winchester City Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Andrew's Church Catechesis Program or the Arts Education Festival, payable to the S.I.U. Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
