Rose Mary Gunn Jones
Rose Mary Gunn Jones, 80, of Mounds, died at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
She was born on June 24, 1929, the daughter of Zon and Mary Turner Vick.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, where she served as a Sunday School secretary. She was treasurer of the Shiloh Cemetery Association in Villa Ridge. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Olive Branch, and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Don C. Gunn, on March 26, 1952; her second husband, Capt. Charles L. Jones, on Dec. 7, 1989; and her son-in-law, Billy Joe Washam.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Washam of Miller City and Melissa (Randy) Gardner of Mounds; a special niece, Jackie (Kenny) Moore of Mounds; a sister, Margaret “Tootie” (Bill) Tally of Altamont; three grandsons, Grant and Kyle Gardner and Alex Washam; two special grandsons, Rob Moore and Scott Washam; one great-granddaughter, Sabrina Gardner; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Cairo City Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
