Schedule of events for Cobden celebration

<p class="p1">Cobden's annual Christmas in the Village celebration is planned Saturday, Dec. 5.</p><p class="p1">The event is promoted by the Cobden Community & Business Association and the Village of Cobden.</p><p class="p1">Here's a look at the schedule of events, as provided by the promoters:</p><p class="p1">The Old Feed Store, 111 N. Appleknocker, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., open house featuring hospitality table with refreshments and other spirit of Christmas activities are planned. Craft/art vendors will be set-up. Santa Claus will visit from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and goody bags will be given to the kids. Free wagon rides around town starts at noon. Free Range Chicks will perform at 7 p.m.</p><p class="p1">Union Congregational Church open house and nativity scenes exhibit, 115 W. Ash St., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The church, with assistance from the Union County Historical and Genealogy Society, will conduct an open house featuring an exhibit on nativity scenes. Around 50 nativities will be on display, including a collection donated by the Lingle-Ittner family. Music will be provided by organist Larry Johnson and the Weaver Family.</p><p class="p1">Cobden Christmas 5K run/walk at 10 a.m. begins at Old Feed Store. Registration at Feed Store 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.</p><p class="p1">Shop with a Cop breakfast fundraiser, Cobden Elementary Cafeteria, 413 N. Appleknocker, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.</p><p class="p1">Christmas Shoppe at Union County Museum, 117 S. Appleknocker, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., featuring Christmas decorations, collectibles, gifts and other related items for sale. Museum will be open. Local author Mike Estel will be present in the afternoon selling his latest book ("Outlaw in the Family"). The shop will continue on Sunday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and conclude on Saturday, Dec. 19 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).</p><p class="p1">St. Joseph Church bazaar, 304 W. Ash (west side of town, parish hall behind church), 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring crafts, homemade goodies, gifts and raffle (prizes include $100 Kroger gift card, $50 certificate for Old Mill Inn & Café, certificate for overnight cabin stay at Rustle Hill Winery, and other items). Lunch served 10:30 a.m.to 2 p.m. (will be serving a variety of homemade soups).</p><p class="p1">Apostolic Lighthouse Church open house and Bazaar, 432 S. Front, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade goodies. </p><p class="p1">anthill gallery, 102 N. Front, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., offers locally made holiday season gift ideas in artwork and fine crafts along with collectibles. Off the Wall! group artist holiday exhibition through Dec. 20.</p><p class="p1">Pack Rats Paradise (antique mall), 220 S. Front, 10 a.m. to 5p.m. Will serve cookies and coffee. Will conduct a raffle for a 36-piece set of Norataki china.</p><p class="p1">Alligator and the Blue Fox (gift shop), 111 Oak St., 11a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Open house with refreshments, 10% discount sale, and give aways.</p><p class="p1">Yellow Moon Café, 110 N. Front, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 7p.m. to close. Offers lunch and dinner along with café items. </p><p class="p1">Southpass Beads open house, 203 E. Ash, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Grand opening of fiber room which features yarn, knitting and crochet supplies and embroidery and cross stitch supplies. Will serve coffee and pumpkin bread. </p><p class="p1">Wine Trail Antiques, South Front Street, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. </p><p class="p1">Village carolers will sing in the downtown area and various locations during the afternoon.</p><p class="p1">First Baptist Church of Cobden will conduct a live nativity scene at the corner of West Maple and Appleknocker from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.</p><p class="p1">Illinois Migrant Council’s Technology Learning Center open house, 111 S. Appleknocker, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Holiday card making and other activities.</p><p class="p1">Health Promoting Massage by Cherry and Reflexology by Chuck open house, Technology Learning Center, 111 S. Appleknocker, 9 a.m. to noon. Free hand and shoulder massages and reflexology.</p><p class="p1">Piñata activity at downtown park basketball court at 4:30 p.m. (Piñata donated by LaMexicana Grocery). </p><p class="p1">Flamm Orchards, 8760 Old Highway 51 North (3 miles north of Cobden, take Oak Street), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Produce stand selling locally grown apples, jams, and other items.</p><p class="p1">Little House of Tacos, 105 S. Appleknocker, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.</p><p class="p1">Palace Pizzeria, 215 N. Appleknocker, open 4 p.m.</p><p class="p1">Christmas lights, downtown park shelter. Santa Claus will lead a walk to the downtown park from the Feed Store for the presentation of the Christmas lights at 5p.m.</p><p class="p1">Other Places to go to: Fuzzy’s Tavern, 106 N.
