Shawnee College offers free GED classes starting in January
Shawnee Community College plans to offer a new schedule of free GED classes starting in January.
An English as a second language class also is available.
The program offers assistance to students in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the GED examination for a high school equivalency diploma.
All classes are open entry/open exit. Students can enroll on any day or night when a class is held.
Classes include individualized instruction in English, social studies, science, mathematics and the United States and Illinois constitutions.
The schedule of GED classes includes:
Shawnee Community College, main campus near Ullin, room J2050. Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon.
Shawnee Community College extension center, Anna. Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Technology Learning Center, Cobden. English as a second language. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
