Shawnee tops Century, falls to Pope County
The Shawnee High School girls’ basketball team split in recent action.
Pope County 55, Shawnee 51: Kaylee Boston scored 22 points to lead host Shawnee in the non-conference loss Friday, Jan. 7.
Jordan Johnson added 17 points for the Lady Reds. Taylor Ellis and Reagan Brown had 4 points each and Morganne Kennedy and Taylor Loveless 2 apiece.
The Lady Pirates led 18-17 after one quarter. Shawnee fought back to pull ahead 30-26 at the half. Pope County tied the game 36-36 going into the final quarter and outscored the Lady Reds 19-15 in the final frame to post the come-from-behind win.
Shawnee 75, Century 64: Boston scored 22 points to lead visiting Shawnee to the win Thursday, Jan. 6.
Kennedy added 20 points, Brown 14, Johnson 11, Loveless 4 and Ellis and Bethany McMahan 2 apiece.
Shawnee built a 21-10 first quarter lead and was ahead 34-24 at the half. The Lady Reds were on top 54-44 going into the final frame.
Shawnee was 8-3 overall following the games.
