Shirley Roberts

Shirley Roberts, 74, of Murphysboro, died at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the Cobden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born on April 11, 1936, in Murphysboro, to Audy and Marie (Gilllooly) Volner.

She was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro. She worked for many years at the Rehab and Care Center, retiring as a housekeeper.

She is survived by two daughters, Tina Marie Crowell of Carbondale and Mancy Solomon of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Billie Roberts of Rosiclare and Kenny Roberts of Carbondale; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Frye officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
