Cobden softball scores big win over Meridian

The Cobden High School softball team was 1-2 in action last week.

Goreville 11, Cobden 1: Jenna Hartline was 1-for-2 to lead the visiting Appleknockers in the loss Thursday, April 11.

Megan Rhodes was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Makenzie Howell and Lauren Sweitzer were each 1-for-3.

Lexi Miller was the losing pitcher, scattering 9 hits to go with a walk and a strikeout.

Christ Our Rock Lutheran (Centralia) 18, Cobden 5: Sweitzer was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI to lead host Cobden in the loss Wednesday, April 10.

Rhodes was 2-for-3. Howell and Halle Short were each 1-for-2 with an RBI apiece. Hannah Stillman was 1-for-2. Lily Britt had an RBI.

Aubrey Fisher and Miller pitched in the loss, combining to scatter 19 hits to go with 9 walks and no strikeouts.

Cobden 16, Meridian 1: Britt was 2-for-2 with a double, home run and 2 RBIs to lead the host Appleknockers to the win Monday, April 8.

Hartline was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Stillman was 1-for-1 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Howell was 1-for-1 with a double. Rhodes and Abby Clover were each 1-for-1. Fisher was 1-for-2 with a triple. 

Fisher was the winning pitcher with a five-hitter to go with no walks and 3 strikeouts.

Cobden, 5-8, is scheduled to play Thursday, today, at home against Vienna.
