Cobden top seed in sub-regional play
The Cobden High School boys’ basketball team has been seeded No. 1 in the Illinois High School Association Hardin County and Goreville Class 1A sub-regionals, which are scheduled Feb. 18-22.
The second seed is Goreville, followed by Cairo, Meridian, Gallatin County, Egyptian, Pope County, Hardin County, Joppa, Century, Carrier Mills, Dongola and Shawnee.
At Hardin County, Cobden is scheduled to play at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, against the Monday, Feb. 18, winner between Pope County-Hardin County.
The winner advances to the championship game at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
In other games at Hardin County, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m., Meridian plays Carrier Mills and at 7:30 p.m. Gallatin County plays Joppa.
Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m., the Pope County-Hardin County winner plays the Gallatin County-Joppa winner.
At the Goreville regional at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, Crab Orchard plays Century and the winner plays at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, against Goreville.
The Hardin County championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
At Goreville, Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m. Shawnee plays Cairo and at 7:30 p.m. Dongola plays Egyptian. The winners of each game play at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
At Goreville, the winner of the Goreville-Crab Orchard-Century game plays at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20. The winners of both Wednesday games advance to the championship.
The Goreville championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.
