A-J girls finish second at Harrisburg round robin tournament
The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School girls’ basketball team finished in second place at the Harrisburg Round Robin Tournament last week.
A-J’s Angel Helm, Mikayla Bundren and Kristin Edmonds were named to the all-tournament team.
A-J 44, Carmi 24: The Lady Wildcats were ahead 11-10 after one quarter and built a 37-23 halftime lead in the win in the final game Saturday, Nov. 24.
Helm had 10 points to lead A-J. Edmonds added 9 points, Bundren 5, Anna Hess 4, Sydney Heath 3, Morgan Wendling, Julie Ellis and Kayla Coleman 2 apiece.
Harrisburg 55, A-J 39: The game was tied 12-12 after one quarter before the Lady Bulldogs pulled ahead 41-35 at the half in the loss Friday, Nov. 23.
Helm led the way with 15 points for A-J. Edmonds added 9 points, Jaley Watkins 7, Hess 4 and Jaycee Woodward 1.
A-J 64, West Frankfort 31: The Lady Wildcats built a 17-5 first quarter lead on their way to the win Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Helm had 15 points to lead the Lady Wildcats. Edmonds added 9 points, Ellis, Watkins, Marlee Smith and Chloe McFarland 6 apiece, Bundren 5, Campbell Belcher, Jaycee Woodward, Heath and Herah Hart 2 each and Coleman 1.
A-J 65, Eldorado 62: The Lady Wildcats led 15-9 after one quarter on their way to the win Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Hess led the way with 13 points. Bundren added 11 points, Edmonds and Helm 9 apiece, Watkins 7, Ellis 5, Woodward 4, Heath and Wendling 3 apiece and Coleman 1.
A-J, 3-1, is scheduled to play Thursday, today, at Marion. A-J’s first home game is against Pinckneyville Tuesday, Dec. 11.
