Pinckneyville, Chester score wins over ‘Cats
The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School boys’ basketball team lost a pair of games in recent action.
Pinckneyville 71, A-J 37: The host Wildcats fell behind early and couldn’t catch up in the loss Friday, Dec. 23.
Sheldon McGrath had 8 points and 3 rebounds to lead A-J.
Izzy Markovic had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Logan Sawyer had 6 points and 3 rebounds. Jade Gillis had 6 points and 2 rebounds.
Carson Reynolds had 5 points and a rebound. Jake Parr had 4 points and 6 rebounds. Ross Pinnon had 3 points and Jacob Zimmerman had a point and 3 rebounds.
A-J was 8 of 25 from the floor, 3 of 8 from 3-point range and 12 of 19 from the free throw line.
The Panthers were 24 of 43 from the field, 6 of 18 from 3-point range and 7 of 8 from the charity stripe.
Chester 57, A-J 55: Parr scored 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the host Wildcats in the non-conference loss Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Zimmerman had 15 points. McGrath added 9 points and 4 rebounds.
Sawyer had 8 points and 2 rebounds. Markovic had 2 points and 8 rebounds. Michael Hill had 2 points and 2 rebounds. Carson had 2 points.
A-J was 4 of 24 in shot attempts from the floor, 6 of 16 from 3-point range and 9 of 15 from the free throw line.
The Yellowjackets were 24 of 35 in shot attempts from the field, 2 of 14 from 3-point range and 3 of 4 from the charity stripe.
A-J, which fell to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference, plays in the Eldorado Tournament this week.
