Stamp collecting, genealogy programs set at Anna library

<p class="p1">The Friends of Stinson met Jan. 5 and approved plans for two "Sunday Afternoon at the Library" events in February and March.</p><p class="p1">The group also is making plans to sponsor a winter book sale in February.</p><p class="p1">All of the events are scheduled at Stinson Memorial Library in Anna.</p><p class="p1"><strong>Stamp Collecting 101</strong></p><p class="p1">Stamp Collecting 101 is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8.</p><p class="p1">The program will be presented by Vera Felts, who is the executive director of the American Topical Stamp Association.  </p><p class="p1">Felts will share her interest in stamps and answer questions from the novice, as well as, the longtime stamp collector.  </p><p class="p1">Those who plan to attend are invited to bring stamps for evaluation or appraisal.  </p><p class="p1">A second stamp collecting program is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, July 12.</p><p class="p1"><strong>Genealogy Get-together</strong></p><p class="p1">A Genealogy Get-together is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8.</p><p class="p1">The program and discussion will be led by Stan Palmer and will focus on his research about the families who came from Rowan County, North Carolina, to settle in Union County, Illinois.  </p><p class="p1">The program will be an informal exchange of information for both the serious and the casual pursuer of family history.  </p><p class="p1">Two more Genealogy Get-togethers are planned for Sunday afternoon, June 14, and Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13.  </p><p class="p1"><strong>Winter Book Sale </strong></p><p class="p1">The Friends are also finalizing plans for a winter book sale.</p><p class="p1">The sale is schedule for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21.</p><p class="p2"> </p>
