Students share what Christmas means to them

Rusty's Home Center in Anna again this year invited local students to share their thoughts about what Christmas means to them. Third grade students at Union County schools wrote about the special holiday. Those chosen to have the best entries each received a six-foot stocking filled with all kinds of toys. This year's winning entries follow.

Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the Way. Hey, that is what Christmas means to me. I like giving joy to people, my family, and Santa Claus.

First Christmas means giving joy to my brothers, my sister, by being nice to them.

I let them play with my Christmas presents. If someone gets hurt I will help them. I like giving presents to everybody I know.

Second I want to spend time with my family. I like worshipping God on his birthday.

I like eating dinner with my mom, my Dad, my aunts, my uncles, my cousins, my brothers and sister, my grandma and grandpa.

Also I like Santa Claus, because he gives me presents.

I like to see his reindeer because I like his rein deer. I like to talk to him because I tell him what I want for Christmas.

I like Christmas because I like giving joy to people, my family and Santa Claus.

What does Christmas mean to you? I would like to tell you what it means to me. Christmas means many different reasons to me.

The most important thing for me is to celebrate Jesus' birthday on the 25th of December which is Christmas.

I celebrate his birthday because Jesus sacrificed his life to die on the cross for us. Jesus is also my hero.

He is the one who created us and this wonderful world. Do you celebrate Jesus' birthday? Well, I do.

Then, the second reason I celebrate Christmas is that you get to spend all the time with your family that you want.

On Christmas, you get to tell your family how much you love your family and how much you appreciate your family!

My family and I always have so much fun. Do you spend time with your family? Well, I do!

Another reason why I love Christmas is that you get to play in the frosty cold snow!

Have you ever got to play in the frosty cold snow before? I hope you do soon because it is a lot of fun.

If you get to play in the snow, you can build a very big snowman. It is a lot of fun to build a snowman. In the snow, you can have a snowball fight.

I hope you wear a lot of gear to play in the snow. You can get very cold - burrr!

Next, putting up a Christmas tree is so much fun.

Our get to watch all the different colors go off and on all day long. You get to have fun to put the tree with your family and friends.

You will have a blast of fun when you put up a Christmas tree this year.

Finally, why do you like Christmas? I like Christmas because you get to spend time with your whole family and your friends! Those are all the reasons why I love Christmas!

On christmas we celebrate god's birthday by decorating trees with different kinds of colors.

And giving things to others and thinking about others. The special moments you have with your family.

Writing Santa letters telling him what you want for christmas.

Helping your mom bake cookies and cake the sweet smell of joy in the wind.

Building snowmans with your family outside in the cold white snow. Having a nice cup of hot cocoa taking turns telling stories.

Making nice crafts for each other in the family. Maybe go to places special you never seen before in your life that are wonderful.

And my friends is how a perfect christmas ends in true life. And that how I feel about god's birthday or as we like to call it christmas. and that is the true meaning of christmas.

What I Think of Christmas is a great day. It's not the presents and it's not about the toy that you really, really what It's about 'Jesus't birthday.

And when I wake up I'm Thankfull to give to others, it just feels like your doing somithing really good to someone.

And I love that my grandma makes her and my favorite homemade cupcakes and her very own brownies.

And if we're really lucky sometimes we get at lest 4 or 5 inches of snow.

And I feel so good when my mom gets out my family's Christmas tree. And we have ornaments and pink and all kinds of arnaments.

And this year I get to put the stare on the Christmas tree. And I love all of the Christmas shows on T.V. every night and morning I watch Christmas shows I hope this year we get snow because my grandma and grandpa like to go to the top of the hill an we all slide down on the count of three.

And when we all get done me and my brothers and my sister go inside and we have hot coco.

And roast marshmallows shaped as snow mens and shaped as Santa And we all drink and eat and we all play and do card games and board games.

And the next day my dog was playing and my three kittens were playing too because guss why they're exited becase they are getting candy for cats, and dogs.

I love it when we go ice skating because we have a pond. But I have to ask my mom. And every Christmas gess what she allways saying.

But that doesn't make my day bad. I love when it's Christmas Ev becase my mom makes a fire and my family sites around it and somtimes and somtimes we will get a friing pan and we will roast bacon on it and it is fun and it's like the olden days.

I love my family very much. And I love racing down to open the first present. And I love when I get my new stocking the color of my stocking is red, pink and green And every one in my family has there own.

And that is why I really, really, really, really, really, really love Christmas.
