Supply drive underway to help those in flood area

<p class="p1">In the wake of the recent flooding in Southern Illinois, State Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg,  said he is holding a supply drive through Jan. 31 to collect needed items for those who have been hit hardest by the rising water levels.</p><p class="p1">Items which will be accepted include mops, buckets, bleach, rubber gloves and face masks. </p><p class="p1">Phelps is also encouraging residents to drop off bottled water, nonperishable food and clothes for men, women and children. </p><p class="p1">Monetary donations, such as cash or checks, will not be accepted. </p><p class="p1">Residents can drop items off at Phelps’ constituent service office located at 607 S. Commercial St. in Harrisburg, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. </p><p class="p1">Those looking to donate also can call Phelps’ office at 618-253-4189 to schedule a time to drop off supplies after work hours. </p><p class="p1">All donations will be provided to the Emergency Management Agencies for Alexander and Jackson  counties for distribution to flood victims.</p>
