Thomas John Mighell Fassler

<strong>         Mr. Thomas John Mighell Fassler, age 73 of Anna, died at 5:17 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born, May 3, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Joseph John and Rosa Lea Mighell Fassler. He married Carolyn Neibauer on October 21, 1961 in Anna. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2011.</strong>

<strong>         Tom is survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth Sue Fassler, Catherine Marie Fassler both of Calvert City, KY, and Mary Carol Jimenz of Anna; three grandchildren, Thomas, Nicholas and Anthony Jimenz of Anna; one brother Earl Fassler of Sebring, FL; two sisters, Eva Mae Bernd of New Port Richey, FL and Delores Fassler Battleground, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Carolyn Fassler.</strong>

<strong>         In Tom’s earlier years, he was a dedicated 4-H member for eleven years; winning seven state awards including the National Farm Safety Award in 1957.</strong>

<strong>         Tom was an SIUC Alumni, graduating with his Bachelor Degree in 1961 in Agriculture, later earning his Master Degree in Education in 1980 nearly completed his PHD in Education. Most of Tom’s teaching career was at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake.</strong>

<strong>         Since the 1970’s Tom has been an active historical re-enactor, demonstrating wine making for the State of Illinois historic sites from the mid 70’s through the early 90’s.</strong>

<strong>In 2004 he began demonstrating live cannon firing and was a member of various historical gun clubs.</strong>

<strong>         For almost 50 years, Tom was a member of the Anna Masonic Lodge #520 AF & AM. He held the position of Grand Steward, Grand Lecturer and Grand State School Instructor. He was a past master of Anna Masonic Lodge, having numerous honorary         memberships in Lodges over the State of Illinois. He became instrumental in organizing the Masonic School Scholarship Program. Along with his wife Carolyn they were also active in the Anna Eastern Star Chapter #522.</strong>

<strong>         Tom was a faithful member of the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna for over 40 years</strong>

<strong>         Funeral services for Mr. Thomas John Mighell Fassler will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Kathy Montira officiating with cremation to follow. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.</strong>
