Three Wildcats earn 2009 All-South honors
Anna-Jonesboro had three players named to the Southern Illinois Coaches Association 2009 All-South high school football team.
The three players selected from the 7-4 Wildcat squad, which advanced to the second round of the IHSA Class 3A playoffs, were J.R. Woodward, Jordan Chamness and Gabe Pecord.
All three seniors were selected as two-way players.
Woodward, a quarterback on offense had 987 yards rushing in 117 carries, scoring 13 touchdowns and passing for 667 yards and six TDs.
A member of the Southern Illinois River-to-River All-Conference offensive team, he was also a defensive back.
Chamness, a fullback rushed for 903 yards and scored 14 TDs.
A linebacker on defense, he was named to the all-conference team as a running back and linebacker.
Pecord, a running back, rushed for 453 yards and scored 6 TDs. He had 363 yards on 21 receptions and four TDs.
He was named to the all-conference team as a running back and defensive back.
