Two semis involved in accident on interstate
Two semi-tractor trailer trucks were involved in a traffic accident which happened at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, on Interstate 57.
Illinois State Police District 22 personnel responded to the accident call.
The accident happened at milepost 40 in the southbound lane of the interstate.
State police reported that one of the vehicles involved in the accident was a blue 2012 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer truck driven by Christopher L. Tracy, 22, of Pleasant Hope, Mo.
Tracy’s vehicle was traveling south on the interstate when it struck a stationary semi-tractor trailer.
The second unit was a 2006 Freightliner driven by Patrick D. McDaniel, 64, of Romulus, Mich. McDaniel’s vehicle was parked on the shoulder of the highway when it was struck.
The southbound vehicle crashed into the left corner of the parked unit, left the roadway, slid down an embankment, struck a culvert and came to a rest on its side.
State police reported that both drivers refused medical attention at the scene.
Authorities said that Tracy was cited for improper lane usage.
