Union County man sentenced on meth charge

Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds reported on Wednesday, Dec. 12, that Billy J. Finney, 36, formerly of 3200 Bald Knob Rd. in rural Alto Pass has been sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one count of possession of methamphetamine, which is a Class X felony.

Finney was arrested in April at the 3200 Bald Knob Rd. residence as a search warrant was executed.

Authorities found more than 900 grams of methamphetamine at the residence, the state's attorney reported.

The case was investigated by the Union County Sheriff's Office, the Murphysboro Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

The Illinois State Police methamphetamine response team also assisted with the investigation.
