Vanna Lee Ratza

            Mrs. Vanna Lee Ratza, age 85 of Jonesboro, died 10:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at her home in Jonesboro. She was born January 18, 1928 in Anna, the daughter of Perl and Verna Moore Zwahlen. She married Art Goodman in July of 1946 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death in 2001. Vanna Lee later married Vernon J. Ratza in Davison, MI. He preceded her in death in 2000.

         Vanna Lee is survived by two sons and one daughter, Dennis Goodman of Anna, Gary (Gail) Goodman of Jonesboro, Tina (Harry) Jackson of Jonesboro; five granddaughters whom she adored, Ginger (Brian) Meyer of Anna, Gina (Jeremy) Bird of St. Joseph, Genny (Tulley) Robinson of Jonesboro, Trisha (Shawn) Myers of Anna, Sarah Jackson of Jonesboro; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Dishona Matthews of Jonesboro; cousin, Carrie Joy Tellor of Anna; sisters in law, Carol Duke of Cobden, Jackie Goodman of Carbondale, Linda Goodman of Cape Girardeau; several nieces and nephews; one devoted Chihuahua named “Pixie”; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vern, one brother, Silas Zwahlen; and one aunt, Cecil Moore.

         Vanna Lee was an extremely gifted musician, countless long time area residents will remember listening to “Vanna Lee Goodman and her Hammond Organ”. Music has lost one of its greats.

         Memorial services for Mrs. Vanna Lee Ratza will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
