Virginia Sue Choate

Virginia Sue Choate 76, of Jonesboro died at 3:05pm Saturday, December 14, 2013. She was born April 1, 1937 in Jonesboro, the daughter of Dan and Doris Ferrell Frick. She married Donald Ray Choate on April 16, 1955 in Jonesboro, Illinois.

         Survivors include her loving husband, Donald Ray Choate of Jonesboro, sons Jeffrey (Jill Winner) Choate of Herrin, Wesley (Claudia) Choate of Pinckneyville, Gregory (Jodie Cotton) Choate of Jonesboro, and Roger (Dawn) Choate of Paducah Kentucky; 13 grandchildren, Christopher Choate, Andrew Choate, Matthew Choate, Meredith Choate, Olivia Choate, Craig Choate, Coleman Choate, Stephanie Plott, Joshua Choate, Jordan Choate, Maggie Choate, Hannah Choate & Isaac Choate; five great-grandchildren, Caleb Choate, Malia Choate, Trinity Choate, Hallie Plott, and Lucas Plott, three sisters, Jean Graham of Anna, Martha Wiley of Peoria, and Pat (Maurie) Farris of Morton; brother-in-laws, Orval Vancil of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Robert (Debbie) Choate of Carbondale; sister-in-laws Shirley Frick of Creve Coeur Mary Ruth Casey and Irma Frick both of Jonesboro, ; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Kenneth Frick, Herman Frick, and Don & Bon Frick; and five sisters, Pauline Bittle, Vivian Ellis, Anita Bittle, Janice Appel, and Marilyn Vancil.

         Sue was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro (35 years), lovingly caring for 'her babies' in the church nursery until her illness prevented her from attending. She was a charter member of Anna Heights Baptist Church. She made a profession of faith as a young girl at Lockard Chapel Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She was a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan, an avid flower gardener, and loved animals.

         She worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, G.C. Murphy in Anna, Henard Nursing Home in Jonesboro, Blankenship Auto Parts in Anna, and was a homemaker.

         Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Sue Choate will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Tony Auxier officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Pall bearers will be grandsons Andrew Choate, Matthew Choate, Craig Choate, Coleman Choate, Joshua Choate, and Jordan Choate. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Healing Projects or Carmi Children's Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
