Wildcat wrestling squad hit hard by injury bug

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Anna-Jonesboro  Community High School wrestling team were hit with the injury bug at the 55th Murdale Wrestling Tournament in Carbondale Jan. 8-9.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">“Injuries hit us hard, losing Jacob Albert for the season and possibly Catie Mays for the season,” A-J head wrestling coach Eric Massey said. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Albert finished in 8th place due to an injury or would have medaled, Massey added.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Wildcats finished in 14th place out of 24 teams.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">A-J had one medalist, Nick Jimenez, in the 285 pound bracket, with a 3rd place finish. Blake Mix finished in 7th place and Nate Kisat wrestled in the consolation championship match and finished in 10th place.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">On Jan. 12 at West Frankfort, the Wildcats lost 51-27 to West Frankfort and 40-30 to Herrin. A-J gave up 12 forfeit points in each match due to injuries.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Wildcats are scheduled to compete at the Centralia Junior Varsity Tournament Saturday, Jan. 23, and at Murphysboro Tuesday, Jan. 26.</span></p>
