Wildcats outscore West Frankfort 61-45

Anna-Jonesboro used a big fourth quarter to knock off host West Frankfort 61-45 in the Redbirds’ Classic in high school boys’ basketball Friday, Jan. 21.

The Redbirds led 12-11 after one quarter. Travis Smith and Tylor Duckworth scored the final two unanswered baskets of the second period to boost A-J to a 28-23 halftime lead.

West Frankfort hung around in the third quarter and only trailed 41-36 going into the final quarter.

Fueled around a pair of 3-pointers by Brady Wright and Dalton Baker, the Wildcats made a 20-9 scoring run in the final quarter to put the game away.

Duckworth led the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats. Wright added 16 points and 13 rebounds. Cody Livesay had 9 points, Smith 7, Baker 6, Jaden Ayers 4 and Brady Carter 1.

The Wildcats were 17 of 27 in shot attempts from the floor, 4 of 15 from 3-point range and 16 of 23 from the free throw line.

The Redbrids were 16 of 29 in shot attempts from the field, 4 of 9 from 3-point range and 3 of 6 from the charity stripe.
