William Earl Anderson
William Earl Anderson Sr., 78, of Ullin, died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at SouthGate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.
Mr. Anderson was born on Aug. 27, 1931, in Cairo, the son of Claude Reese Anderson and Carolyn Louise Stanfill Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ullin. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a retired social worker.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice M. Severs Anderson, on Oct. 21, 1998; two brothers; a half-sister and a half-brother.
Survivors include a son, William (Becky) Anderson Jr.; a daughter, Michele Anderson; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Anderson of Ullin; and a brother, Claude R. Anderson of Fuquay, N.C.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms with Junior Melvin officiating.
Full military honors were presented by an Illinois Army National Guard honors detail and local veterans. Interment was in the Ullin Cemetery in Ullin.
Jones Funeral Home in Tamms was in charge of arrangements.
