Windy Wednesday in region

The first full week of December brought wet and windy conditions to the Union County area.

The wet weather followed record dry weather which was recorded in the region during November, a month when Union County had just over an inch of rain.

Wind Advisory Issued

The National Weather Service, NWS, forecast office at Paducah issued a wind advisory for the region which went into effect at midnight Tuesday.

The advisory was scheduled to remain in effect until 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Widespread wind speeds of 20 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45 mph, were expected to develop after midnight Tuesday.

A deepening low pressure system was expected to track just north of the region Tuesday night and early Wednesday.

The intense low pressure system was responsible for the period of strong and gusty winds.

Strong winds were blowing Wednesday morning in Union County. Downed tree limbs were spotted in areas, but no major problems had been reported to the Union County Sheriff's Office or the Anna Police Department as of early Wednesday morning.
