Woman in Custody in Connection with Death of Child in Ware

<p style="text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal">Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds and Union County Sheriff David Livesay announced today that Sacha E. Brown (DOB 1-28-1982) of 25 Follis Drive is in custody in connection with the death of a four-year old male child in Ware over the weekend.<span style=""> </span> Brown was taken into custody on the evening of December 12, 2011.<span style=""> </span> It is anticipated that formal charges will be filed sometime Wednesday with a First Appearance scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.<span style=""> </span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal">Brown was taken into custody following an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, Union County Coroner’s Office and Union County State’s Attorney’s Office.<span style=""> </span> The Southern Illinois Child Death Task Force was also activated as part of the investigation bringing resources from a number of agencies including the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Massac County Sheriff’s Office, Vienna Police and Carbondale Police.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal"><strong style=""><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt.<span style=""> </span> A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.</span></strong></p>
