A Union County woman was taken into custody early this week in connection with an investigation surrounding the death of a 4-year-old boy in rural Jonesboro.

The child's death was reported to have occurred Saturday night, Dec. 10.

Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds and Union County Sheriff David Livesay on Tuesday reported that Sacha E. Brown, 29, of 25 Follis Dr. in Ware had been taken into custody.

Brown was taken into custody Monday evening, Dec. 12.

The state's attorney reported in a news release issued Tuesday afternoon that he anticipated that formal charges would be filed sometime Wednesday, Dec. 14. A first appearance was scheduled at 2 p.m. at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.

Brown was taken into custody following an investigation by the Union County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police, Union County coroner's office and Union County state's attorney's office.

The Southern Illinois Child Death Task Force also was activated as part of the investigation.
