2009 Relay For Life planned at Anna Park

The 2009 Union County Relay For Life is planned this Friday and Saturday in Anna.

The event will take place at the Anna City Park and is a major fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Activities begin Friday evening and continue throughout the night.

Relay For Life features a wide range of activities, including a variety of entertainment.

Here's a look at the schedule of events at this year's Relay For Life starting on Friday evening:

5 p.m. Survivor registration begins. Silent auction opens.

5:30 p.m. Second Chances.

6 p.m. Opening ceremony. The opening ceremony will include a welcome and opening remarks, an opening prayer by Pastor Rick Hertenstein and the singing of the National Anthem by Ashley Hatfield, the 2007 Miss Illinois.

A Survivor Victory Lap and a Caregiver Lap will follow.

Then there will be a parade of Relay teams and a "Fight Back Ceremony."

7 p.m. Living Proof.

8 p.m. Faithful Praise.

8:45 p.m. Call to order for Luminaria Ceremony. Accounting and concessions closed.

9 p.m. Luminaria Ceremony. No walking, games or concessions.

10 p.m. Ashley Hatfield, 2007 Miss Illinois.

10:30 p.m. Eli Tellor.

Team raffle drawings.

11:15 p.m. Team captain meeting.

The Relay comes to a conclusion early Saturday morning.
