Anna police investigate incidents involving three stolen vehicles

The Anna Police Department is investigating two separate incidents which involve stolen vehicles.

A suspect was apprehended in connection with one of the incidents.

Nov. 27 Incident

Anna Police Chief Dale Foster reported that the most recent incident occurred Sunday, Nov. 27.

A pickup truck was reported to have been stolen from a residence along Industrial Drive in Anna. Keys had been left in the vehicle.

The pickup truck then was discovered by the Anna Police Department at about 9:15 p.m. the same day in a municipal parking lot in Jonesboro.

Foster reported that a person who subsequently was apprehended in connection with the alleged theft apparently abandoned the pickup and then stole a car from the parking lot at the Dollar General store in Jonesboro.

The car was driven to a parking lot at the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna. The car and driver were spotted by an Illinois State Police trooper. The driver then was apprehended by the Anna Police Department.

Foster said that Dustin J. Hubbs, 19, of Anna, was taken into custody in connection with the alleged thefts. Hubbs has been charged with two counts of motor vehicle theft. He was in custody at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro.

The Anna and Jonesboro police departments, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police are working together on the investigation of the incidents.

Nov. 21 Incident

Foster reported that a pickup truck was stolen at about 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, from a residence along Court Street in Anna.

Keys had been left in the vehicle. A 12-gauge shotgun was in the vehicle when it was stolen.

Foster said the pickup, which had been abandoned, was found by the Anna Police Department at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, along Limekiln Road. The shotgun was not in the vehicle.

The Anna Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
