Art and tree contests planned at Arts Center
<p class="p1">The Anna Arts Center and the Shawnee Hills Arts Council is sponsoring an art contest.</p><p class="p1">Contestants are asked to submit a scrapbook page, a page of poetry or prose and/or an illustration, drawing or mixed media piece.</p><p class="p1">The entry deadline is Nov. 20, at 6 p.m.The entry fee is $5.</p><p class="p1">The entry must be accompanied by a 3 by 5 blank index card with entrants name, address, phone number and email.</p><p class="p1">All work must be suitable for hanging. The show will hang from Nov. 21 through Dec. 10 in the Anna Arts Center Main Gallery.</p><p class="p1">People's choice voting will continue until Dec. 6.</p><p class="p1">Prize winners will be announced following the intermission of the matinee show of "A Tuna Christmas" on Sunday, Dec. 6.</p><p class="p1">In support of the Shop Local project, a receipt from any Union County business or service must be presented at the time the entry is received.</p><p class="p1">The Anna Arts Center and the Shawnee Hills Arts Council is also sponsoring a "Light Up Someone's Holiday's" table top holiday themed Christmas tree centerpiece decorating contest.</p><p class="p1">The entry deadline is Friday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $5.</p><p class="p1">The entry must be accompanied with a 3 by 5 blank index card with entrants name, address, phone number and email address.</p><p class="p1">Maximum height and width of tree including tree topper and decorations must not exceed 36 inches. Base must be proportional to tree.</p><p class="p1">The tree may be either live rooted with liner for drainage or cut in water, artificial or a construct of any materials.</p><p class="p1">Theme decoration categories include humorous, childhood/nostalgic memories, historic period, religious/spiritual or Christmas wishes.</p><p class="p1">Those who enter must indicate at the time of entry if the tree is available for auction or gifting to brighten the home of a family, shut-in or elderly resident of Union County or will be taken home.</p><p class="p1">Trees will be displayed from Dec. 1 through 8 at the Anna Arts Center and must be removed before noon on Dec. 9.</p><p class="p1">People's choice voting for the prize winners will be Dec. 4 through 6 at the Anna Arts Center.
