Author signs copies of memoirs during recent visit to Anna

<p class="p1">Wilda Young, author of the memoir "Fishhooks in Treetops," signed copies of her book at KiKi's Coffee House in downtown Anna on Saturday, Nov. 22. "Fishhooks in Treetops" is the first book that Young has written. Young said the book was inspired by a Christmas present from her father, Marion Mosley.</p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Young said that one year, her father told her, along with her six older siblings, that he was going to write them a letter about memories he had with the specific child. He wanted them, in turn, to write their own memories. </span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Once they did, he put all the letters together in a book and gave it to them for Christmas.</span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Young said that every chapter expands a memory in the letters involving her and her father.</span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">The memoir has been out for over a year.</span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">"It's been exciting and humbling," Young said about the experience. "There have been lots of tears and good memories."</span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Young's connection to Union County is her sister Frances Cobb, who currently resides in Anna, and her father, retired in Jonesboro. </span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Her closest-in-age sister, Ramona, passed away and gave Young the letters to her dad before she passed.</span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">"That may be book number two," Young said.</span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Young currently resides in Elizabethtown. She is a retired teacher who worked in Pope and Hardin counties.</span></p><p class="p2"><span class="s1">Those who want to purchase "Fishhooks in Treetops" are invited to do so at Handfuls On Purpose in Marion.
