Bad check restitution topic of program
Bad check restitution will be the focus of a program presented by Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds.
The "Union County Merchant Event" is planned from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22.
The program will be at Shawnee Community College's Anna Extension Center. The center is located at 1150 E. Vienna St. in Anna. Lunch will be provided.
Edmonds said his office has established a bad check restitution program "as a solution to the growing problem of worthless checks in Union County and to form an alliance with the business community."
The program was created to help in the recovery of losses associated with worthless checks.
The state's attorney noted that the program is free to all victims of bad checks.
"The program operates at no cost to businesses or taxpayers. It is funded solely through statutory fees paid by bad check offenders, making this unique program totally self-supporting," Edmonds stated.
