Baseball, softball signup dates planned in Anna

The Southern Illinois Baseball and Softball Association, SIBSA, is preparing for the 2010 season.

The season is scheduled to begin in late May and end around mid-July.

Meeting for Coaches

A meeting for coaches is planned at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, in the cafeteria at Anna Junior High School.

Anyone who is a coach, or is interested in being a coach, is asked to attend the meeting if at all possible in order to receive important information.

Returning coaches are asked to bring an accurate copy of last season’s roster for verification.

Registration Set

Registration for all t-ball, baseball and softball participants is planned in the Anna Junior High School cafeteria from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 20; from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, and Thursday, March 25; and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 27.

SIBSA notes that everyone must register, whether or not they participated last year.

To be eligible to participate, girls must be 5 years old before Jan. 1, 2010, and boys must  be 5 years old before May 1, 2010.

Individual registration is $40 for the first child, $35 for the second and $30 for each additional person.

Registration is nonrefundable unless a team is unable to form at that level.

Anyone who does not register by March 27 runs the risk of not being placed on a team.

Draft Scheduled

A draft is scheduled April 7 at Anna Junior High School.

Both boys and girls will have an opportunity to play up one level if desired, provided that they are drafted to a team of that level.

Information about any changes in dates, times or locations will be announced by the league.

Signup reminder slips will be sent home with children from school this week.
