Bears who CARE
A special Southern Illinois holiday season tradition was scheduled to continue this week.
Tuesday morning, Dec. 15, Illinois State Police District 22 personnel planned to don their Santa hats and joined together to load squad cars with food and gifts like elves loading Santa’s sleigh.
The state police personnel planned to spend the day distributing the food and gifts to families in need as part of CARE (Children are Remembered Everywhere) Bears.
Based in Illinois State Police District 22, which has its headquarters at Ullin, CARE Bears is a charitable organization that has been in existence for 13 years.
CARE Bears, like many other programs of its kind, depends on the generosity and support of the community for its continued success. And that success has been forthcoming for more than a dozen years.
CARE Bears is one of many special programs in our region which help to make the holiday season a little bit brighter for those who are in need.
