Charles Thomas (Tommy) Turner

Charles Thomas (Tommy) Turner, 75, of Troy and the Clayton/Antioch community in Tennessee, died at 7:31 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Reelfoot Lake.

Mr. Turner was born in Cobden, and he was of the Baptist faith.

He attended Lake Road Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a rigger for U.S. Steel Gary Works for 31 years, and was a ham operator. He was a member of the M.L. McClelland Masonic Lodge No. 357 in Hobart, Ind. He was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma E. Webb Turner of Troy; two sons Stanley B. Turner and wife Sue of Portage, Ind., and Steven Wade Turner and wife Tracy of Valpo, Ind.; three sisters, Margaret Lang of Anna, Mary Bloodworth and husband Willie of Granite City and Lucy Puckett and husband Mike of Baldwin; three brothers, Jim Turner and wife Annabell of Anna, John Turner and wife Kathy of Liberty, S.C., and Jake Turner of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Kim Ozug and husband Joe of Chesterton, Ind., and Matthew Turner of Valpo, Ind.; one great-grandchild, Braxton Ozug of Chesterton, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Audrey Shoemaker Turner; and one sister, Marlyn Palmer.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lake Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Chip Davis officiating. Burial was in the Freemont Cemetery.

Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe, Ky., was in charge of arrangements.
