Commenting on a theft

To the editor,

I would like to address the person or persons who stole my solar yard lights.

I would first like to say that I am not angry about the theft. I was raised properly and taught by example that one should work hard for the things you need and a bit harder for the things you want.

I cannot assume that you were raised improperly only that you did not learn this life lesson. I can assume that the lighting was stolen either while I slept so I could go to work or actually at work attempting to earn the money to purchase the things I need and want.

I really didn't "need" those lights. But, maybe you did? So if you truly needed them I hope they work well for you.

I am a bit put out though. See, since I do work I don't always have time to run to the store and replace those items which people have stolen.

So next time you would like to steal something of mine I would appreciate it if you would just knock on my door and we could possibly come to some agreement.The lights were only $2 a piece: my time is worth more.

The point I am trying to make is I could have given you the few dollars to buy your own and it would have saved me valuable time.

One more point. Have no fear! There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

You see, one day you might get caught stealing the things you want/need. Then you will have to need no more as you will be housed, fed, clothed, your medical needs will be met and all of these needs will come from us taxpayers who work for a living.

Unfortunately under those circumstances your wants may not be met. But keep me in mind when that happens. Maybe I will just feel sorry enough for you to provide you with a few wanted items…not really!
