Concerned about schools

To the editor,

I’m very concerned about the firing of our school teachers and other employees of our local school. I’m sure there will be more let go because of the failure of our state legislative body to increase our state income tax a small amount to educate our children.

Gov. Quinn proposed a tax increase but it was voted down because the money was to go into the general fund. Most of the legislative body, both Democrats and Republicans, wanted the money earmarked for education.

If we will join together and let these people know we want our teaching staff rehired for fall of 2010 and are willing to pay for it maybe our students can have an environment where they can get an education.
