Congratulations, graduates

Commencement ceremonies are coming up this week for members of the 2010 graduating classes at Union County's four public high schools.

To each 2010 graduate at Anna-Jonesboro, Cobden, Dongola and Shawnee high schools we say congratulations.

Graduates, this is a special time. We hope that as you begin a new chapter in your lives, you will experience happiness, the continued blessings of those who love and support you, and success in your endeavors.

To the families of our graduates, we also say congratulations. Your support has helped each of the graduates achieve this special milestone.

Again, congratulations to each and every one of our 2010 graduates – from kindergarten to college. Best of luck in the future.

<strong>Welcome to our visitors</strong>

Two special, and totally unrelated, events are among the activities on the calendar for this coming weekend in the Union County area.

The Illinois High School Rodeo Association is planning to sponsor a spring rodeo this weekend at the Anna City Park.

And on Saturday, the Walter Burley Griffin Society plans to have its annual meeting at Stinson Memorial Library.

While the two events may not have much in common, both will be bringing many visitors to our community. We take this opportunity to welcome our guests, and we hope they enjoy their visit.
